RESUMO

Mandibular fractures are one of the most frequently observed injuries within craniofacial region mostly due to tumor-related problems and traumatic events, often related to non-linear effects like impact loading. Therefore, a validated digital twin of the mandible is required to develop the best possible patient-specific treatment. However, there is a need to obtain a fully compatible numerical model that can reflect the patients' characteristics, be available and accessible quickly, require an acceptable level of modeling efforts and knowledge to provide accurate, robust and fast results at the same time under highly non-linear effects. In this study, a validated simulation methodology is suggested to develop a digital twin of mandible, capable of predicting the non-linear response of the biomechanical system under impact loading, which then can be utilized to design treatment strategies even for multiple fractures of the mandibular system. Using Computed Tomography data containing cranial (skull) images of a patient, a 3-dimensional mandibular model, which consists cortical and cancellous bones, disks and fossa is obtained with high accuracy that is compatible with anatomical boundaries. A Finite Element Model (FEM) of the biomechanical system is then developed for a three-level validation procedure including (A) modal analysis, (B) dynamic loading and (C) impact loading. For the modal analysis stage: Free-free vibration modes and frequencies of the system are validated against cadaver test results. For the dynamic loading stage: Two different regions of the mandible are loaded, and maximum stress levels of the system are validated against finite element analyses (FEA) results, where the first loading condition (i) transfers a 2000 N force acting on the symphysis region and, the second loading condition (ii) transfers a 2000 N force acting on the left body region. In both cases, equivalent muscle forces dependent on time are applied. For the impact loading stage: Thirteen different human mandibular models with various tooth deficiencies are used under the effects of traumatic impact forces that are generated by using an impact hammer with different initial velocities to transfer the impulse and momentum, where contact forces and fracture patterns are validated against cadaver tests. Five different anatomical regions are selected as the impact site. The results of the analyzes (modal, dynamic and impact) performed to validate the digital twin model are compared with the similar FEA and cadaver test results published in the literature and the results are found to be compatible. It has been evaluated that the digital twin model and numerical models are quite realistic and perform well in terms of predicting the biomechanical behavior of the mandible. The three-level validation methodology that is suggested in this research by utilizing non-linear FEA has provided a reliable road map to develop a digital twin of a biomechanical system with enough confidence that it can be utilized for similar structures to offer patient-specific treatments and can help develop custom or tailor-made implants or prosthesis for best compliance with the patient even considering the most catastrophic effects of impact related trauma.

INTRODUCTION: Pseudomonas aeruginosa possesses a variety of virulence factors that may contribute to its pathogenicity, and relationship has been determined between antibiotic resistance and biofilm. The aim of this study was to investigate the virulence factors of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates by genotypic and phenotypic methods, as well as whether there is a relationship between other virulence factors and antibiotic resistance. METHODS: A total of 80 Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains were sent from various clinics included in the study. Identification and antibiotic resistance profile of isolates were determined by Vitek 2 (Biomerioux, France) automated system. Pseudomonas P agar, Pseudomonas F agar, and motility test medium were used for phenotyping tests. Tox A, Exo S, Plc N, and Las B were evaluated with Real-time PCR (Anatolia, Geneworks, Turkey). RESULTS: The highest rates of antibiotic resistance were observed against imipenem (42.5%) and meropenem (40%). Among the isolates, 81.3% tested positive for Tox A, 30% for Exo S, 32.5% for Plc N, and 42.5% for Las B. Additionally, 70.4% of the isolates tested positive for pyocyanin, 41.3% for pyoverdine, 1.8% for pyorubin, and 8.9% tested negative for pyorubin. No statistically significant difference was found between antibiotic resistance and the presence of virulence factors (p > 0.005). CONCLUSIONS: The relationship between antibiotic resistance and virulence factors is controversial. There are studies demonstrating the relationship between virulence factors and antibiotic resistance, as well as studies that indicate the absence of such a relationship. Investigating virulence and antibiotic resistance rates may be important for identifying potential drug targets for subsequent research.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and optimal use of corticosteroids in children with severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia, for which effective treatment is still lacking with respect to this population. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study and included patients (aged < 18 years) with severe COVID-19 pneumonia and/or acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) who received standard doses (2-4 mg/kg/day) and high doses (>250 mg/day) of methylprednisolone (MPZ). We adjusted for patients on steroid treatments with a propensity score and compared the side effects of different MPZ doses and patient survival. RESULTS: Fifty-nine patients were included: 61% were male, the median age was 8, interquartile range (IQR) 2-15) years. The overall survival was 84.4% in patients treated with standard-dose MPZ (n = 45, 76.3%) and 92.2% in patients treated with high-dose MPZ (n = 14, 23.7%; p = 0.67). The demographic, clinical, and laboratory data did not differ significantly after propensity score matching, apart from bradycardia, which was a prominent feature of the high-dose group. The clinical and radiological response rates on day 7 were higher and the need for invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) was lower in the high-dose group. CONCLUSION: The patients with high-dose MPZ had better clinical and radiological responses than those with standard-dose MPZ, although the mortality rate did not differ between standard and high-dose regimens of MPZ.

PURPOSE: The Lausanne NoSAS (Neck circumference, Obesity, Snoring, Age, Sex) score is a new tool for the identification of high-risk patients for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Up to now, no study has attempted to determine the role of NoSAS score in cardiovascular morbidity of patients with OSA. We aimed to investigate the relationships between NoSAS scores and CVD and also between severity of OSA, polysomnographic parameters, and NoSAS scores in patients with OSA. METHODS: Patients with diagnosis of OSA by full-night polysomnography were recruited in the study. Based on apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) scores, the patients were categorized as OSA-negative (AHI < 5), mild OSA (5 ≤ AHI < 15), moderate OSA (15 ≤ AHI < 30), and severe OSA (AHI ≥ 30). The definition of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) included the presence of any of the diseases such as hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, or arrhythmia. RESULTS: A total of 1514 patients including cases with 199 OSA-negative, 391 mild, 342 moderate, and 582 severe OSA were enrolled in the study. NoSAS scores were significantly different between mild, moderate, and severe OSA groups. NoSAS scores were negatively correlated with minimum oxygen saturation values and positively with AHI and ODI (oxygen desaturation index) values (P < 0.001). NoSAS scores were significantly higher in patients with CVD, diabetes mellitus, and cerebrovascular disease compared with those without (P < 0.005). NoSAS cut-off values for hypertension (14), congestive heart failure (8.5), coronary artery disease (9), cerebrovascular event (11), and diabetes mellitus (10) were also determined. CONCLUSION: NoSAS scores are associated with CVD and the severity of OSA. NoSAS scores may be useful to predict CVD in patients with OSA.

This study was conducted to evaluate the relationship between lifelong learning perceptions of pediatric nurses and self-confidence and anxiety in clinical decision-making processes. One of the most important ways to adapt to change in the developing and changing health care environment worldwide and in evidence based nursing care is lifelong learning. The most essential characteristics of a lifelong learner are reflection, questioning, enjoying learning, understanding the dynamic nature of knowledge and engaging in learning by actively seeking learning opportunities so that evidence-based nursing care can be achieved. Pediatric nurses were included in this descriptive, correlational and cross-sectional study. The study was based on pediatric nursing in the pediatric clinics of a hospital in the capital of  Turkiye between April and July 2021. It was determined that the mean scores of lifelong learning differed according to gender, education level, length of service in the profession and the unit in which each individual worked, and these differences were statistically significant. Pediatric nurses' lifelong learning level explained the three subdimensions of self-confidence in clinical decision-making. The results of the regression analysis indicate that lifelong learning levels of the pediatric nurses did not significantly predict their scores on the subdimensions of anxiety with clinical decision-making scale. Positive effects on clinical decision-making in the nursing process can be achieved if the tendencies of pediatric nurses toward lifelong learning are sufficient. Assessing nurses' lifelong learning perceptions is an essential step toward implementing evidence-based care for pediatric patients. Clinical decision-making skills can be supported by increasing nurses' lifelong learning awareness.

Backgrounds: Pain management is one of the most important factors affecting the success of pediatric dentistry. Therefore, new needle- and pain-free local anesthesia techniques have been developed in parallel with technological advancements. The purpose of this study is to compare the pain perception and dental anxiety levels associated with a needle-free injection system (Comfort-in™) and the classic needle method during treatment-required infiltration anesthesia in children. Methods: This randomized controlled crossover split-mouth clinical study included 94 children who required dental treatment with local anesthesia using a dental needle or needle-free injection system for the bilateral primary molars. The Wong-Baker Scale (WBS) was used to measure pain perception at different times, and the Modified Child Dental Anxiety Scale (MCDAS) was used to measure the anxiety level of the child. A statistical software package was used to process the data. Statistical significance was set at P < 0.05. Results: There was no significant difference between the needle-free injection system and dental needle method during the induction stage for filling and pulpotomy (P > 0.05). "Pain on postoperative 1st day" was similar in both types of anesthesia (P = 0.750). Conclusions: The needle-free injection system was as effective as the dental needle method. The Comfort-in™ system was an acceptable alternative for patients during the postoperative period. Understanding how pain management may be provided during local anesthesia administration and a child's fear and anxiety regarding the dentist may lead to better dental compliance.

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF), endemic in certain regions of the world, is listed as a priority disease with pandemic potential. Since CCHF was first identified in Turkey, children have been known to experience milder disease than adults. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we observed an unusually severe disease course, including hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). We examined cytokine/chemokine profiles of 9/12 case-patients compared with healthy controls at 3 time intervals. Interferon pathway-related cytokines/chemokines, including interleukin (IL) 18, macrophage inflammatory protein 3α, and IL-33, were elevated, but tumor necrosis factor-α, IL-6, CXCL8 (formerly IL-8), and cytokines acting through C-C chemokine receptor 2 and CCR5 were lower among case-patients than controls. Interferon pathway activation and cytokines/chemokines acting through CCR2 and CCR5 improved health results among children with severe CCHF. Children can experience severe CCHF, including HLH, and HLH secondary to CCHF can be successfully treated with intravenous immunoglobulin and steroid therapy.

BACKGROUND: There is a crucial balance between oxidant and antioxidant defense mechanisms. We aimed to evaluate the role of the balance of these systems in children with bloodstream infection. METHODS: We analyzed prospectively oxidant and antioxidant stress parameters from serum samples of children with BSI besides demographic and clinical data of children. Serum levels of the total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS), albumin, plasma thiol, disulphide, catalase (CAT), myeloperoxidase (MPO), ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) levels, ferroxidase and arylesterase (ARES) activity were evaluated in both patients and healthy controls. RESULTS: A total of 113 children were evaluated, 50 of them had bacteremia and the remaining 63 were healthy subjects. The median TOS values were 18.5 µmol H2O2/L and 13.1 µmol H2O2/L in patient and control groups, respectively with a statistically significant difference between groups. The mean serum IMA levels were 0.8±0.1 absorbance unit (ABSU) in patients and 0.5±0.09 ABSU in control, the difference between groups was statistically significant. The native thiol, total thiol levels and the disulphide levels were significantly lower in the patient group as compared with the control group. The myeloperoxidase level was 136 U/L in patients and 107 in controls with a statistically significant difference between groups. CONCLUSIONS: TOS, IMA, MPO, and particularly plasma thiols seem good candidates for accurate diagnosis of bacteremia in children.

Introduction: The relationship between mean platelet volume (MPV) and platelet count (PC, MPV/PC) has been studied in detail in various diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the MPV/PC ratio in estimating the risk of postoperative mortality in unstable pertrochanteric fractures. In addition, serum biomarkers such as the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) will be compared with the MPV/PC ratio in predicting mortality. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the records of eligible adult patients with a pertrochanteric fracture who admitted to the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology between January 2011 and December 2019. The MPV/PC ratio was estimated as the MPV value divided by the PC at admission, postoperative day 2, and postoperative day 5 of the surgery. The clinical outcome was 30-day mortality and overall mortality. Results: We included 447 patients who received unstable pertrochanteric fracture surgery. In multivariate Cox proportional hazard models, higher MPV/PC ratios on admission were significant risk factors for 30-day mortality. In the ROC analysis, MPV/platelet ratio ≥ 0.048 at admission was critical for 30-day mortality (sensitivity 0.636, specificity 0.659, p < 0.001). Discussion: The MPV/PC ratio alone predicted 30-day mortality in patients with pertrochanteric fracture. Further prospective and multicenter clinical trials supporting our findings and aiming to uncover the reason for the change in blood parameters will help to reduce mortality in unstable pertrochanteric fractures.

This study aimed to reveal the perceptions and conspiracy theories surrounding the new coronavirus infection. We aimed to explore associations between COVID-19 conspiracy beliefs with recommended health protective attitudes and sociodemographic features among the Turkish population. A questionnaire consisting of seven items about COVID-19 conspiracy theories and perceptions and ten items about attitudes was given to patients and their relatives in five different centres during the second national lockdown in Istanbul. A chi-square test was used to evaluate the associations of disease perceptions and conspiracy beliefs with sociodemographic features and with health protective attitudes. Logistic regression analysis was performed for significant results. Of 483 participants, 242 (50.1%) were found to have a conspiracy belief. Conspiracy theories were more frequent in the participants who were older than 50 years of age (p = 0.009) (OR: 1.83) and less frequent in higher education levels (p = 0.005) (OR: 0.499). In addition, 6.6% of the participants were infected with COVID-19, but having the infection was found to have no effect on disease perceptions or conspiracy beliefs. Wearing a mask in crowds, avoiding shaking hands and kissing, and washing hands were less frequent among conspiracy believers and participants with impaired perceptions. These results indicate that misconceptions and conspiracy beliefs are driving the adoption of disinformation about the prevention of COVID-19 infection.

Neurologic complications have been associated with multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, possibly involving autoimmune mechanisms. Here, we report a 6-year-old girl who developed myasthenia 11 weeks after severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection and 8 weeks after the onset of severe multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children.

OBJECTIVE: To address the gap in evidence related to molluscum contagiosum in children by focusing on demographic and clinical features as well as risk factors. Methods: The multicentre, prospective, clinical study was conducted at four hospitals in Ankara and Tokat cities of Turkey from August 1, 2014, to August 5, 2019, and comprised patients aged ≤18 years diagnosed with molluscum contagiosum. Data about demographics, day nursery and preschool attendance, the seasons when the disease occurred, any use of Turkish baths and swimming pools, history of personal/familial atopy, coexistence of diseases, disease duration, courses, number of lesions and anatomic localisation. Data was analysed using SPSS 19. RESULTS: Of the 286 patients, 130(45.5%) were girls and 156(54.5%) were boys. The overall mean age was 5.94±3.95 years. The median duration of the disease was 5 weeks (interquartile range: 3.00-12.00 weeks). There was a significant number of cases with family history 18(48.6%) in the 0-3 age group (p=0.027). History of personal atopy was significantly high in the winter season (p<0.05). Patients with >20 lesions had used swimming pools significantly more frequently than the rest (p=0.042). The trunk was the most commonly involved region 162(56.6%). CONCLUSIONS: Providing prospective data about demographics, clinical characteristics and risk factors of molluscum contagiosum in children will lead to appropriate preventive and therapeutic measures.

BACKGROUND: Pain control during dental procedures is one of the most important topics related to behavior management in children. This study aims to compare the pain perception associated with a needle-free system (Comfort-In™) and the dental needle method during filling and pulpotomy treatments in children. METHODS: The study included teeth that required treatment (pulpotomy or filling treatment) in 56 patients aged 4 to 11 years with no systemic problems or history of allergy. Patients were randomly divided into the needle-free system group (filling treatment, n = 13; pulpotomy, n = 15) and dental needle method group (filling treatment, n = 14; pulpotomy, n = 14). For pulpotomy and filling treatment performed with 0.3 mL anesthesia, the active ingredient of which is 2% lidocaine and 1/80000 epinephrine. The patients' behavior before the procedure was evaluated by a pediatric dentist using the Frankl Behavior Scale. The pain intensity was assessed Immediately after injection (induction), during treatment (treatment), and at the end of the treatment (post treatment) by the Wong-Baker Faces Pain Scale. RESULTS: The median (IQR-InterQuartile Range) induction pain value was 6[3-8] and 2[0-4] in dental needle method and needle-free system respectively, p < 0.001). In filling and pulpotomy treatment group, no difference between the needle and needle-free group for treatment and post-treatment pain values. CONCLUSIONS: For pulpotomy and filling treatment, needle-free system performed with 0.3 mL anesthesia was found as effective as infiltrative anesthesia with a dental needle method. PURPOSE: Obesity is defined as the abnormal or excessive accumulation of fat over acceptable limits. Leptin is a metabolic hormone present in the circulation in amounts proportional to fat mass. Leptin reduces food intake and increases energy expenditure, thus regulating body weight and homeostasis. Various polymorphisms are present in the leptin gene and its receptor. These polymorphisms may be associated with obesity. This study aimed to show the association of leptin (+19) AG, leptin (2548) GA, and Gln223Arg leptin receptor polymorphisms with obesity and metabolic syndrome in Turkish children aged 6-17 years, and to conduct further investigations regarding the genetic etiology of obesity. METHODS: A total of 174 patients diagnosed with obesity and 150 healthy children who were treated at Tokat Gaziosmanpasa Medical School Hospital between September 2014 and March 2015 were included in this study. The ages of the children were between 6 and 17 years, and anthropometric and laboratory results were recorded. Genotyping of leptin (+19) AG, leptin (2548) GA, and leptin receptor Gln223Arg polymorphisms was performed by polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: An association between leptin receptor Gln223Arg gene polymorphism and obesity was detected. CONCLUSION: Further studies are needed to determine the role of genetic etiologies and to indicate the role of leptin signal transmission impairment in the pathogenesis of obesity. We hope that gene therapy can soon provide a solution for obesity.

RESUMO

Medical visual documentation is an especially important source of information for medicine. Medical photography has become the main method of medical visual documentation. In breast surgery, as in all other medical branches, medical photography has a major role in education and patient follow-up. The published literature was reviewed for medical photography techniques. In co-operation with the University fine arts faculty photography unit, standards for clinical, intra-operative and specimen photography in breast surgery were analyzed and identified. As a result, we have made recommendations for obtaining high quality and academically more effective medical photographs in breast surgery.

OBJECTIVE: Obesity is considered a major risk factor for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). This study aimed to examine the correlation between anthropometric measurements, which have been recently defined and are indicative of abdominal obesity and cardiometabolic diseases, OSAS severity, and polysomnography (PSG) parameters in patients with OSAS. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This retrospective cohort study included patients who underwent all-night polysomnography with a prediagnosis of OSAS. These patients were categorized as having mild (5-15), moderate (15-30), and severe (>30) OSAS according to the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI). The anthropometric measurements used in the study consisted of waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), (waist/hip)-to-height ratio (WHHR), a body shape index (ABSI), body adiposity index (BAI), abdominal volume index (AVI), and conicity index (CI). RESULTS: A total of 410 individuals were enrolled in the study (31 control subjects and 129 with mild, 101 with moderate, and 149 with severe OSAS). A significant difference was observed between groups in terms of all anthropometric measurements (p<0.05). The difference between the groups was significant in terms of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease (p<0.05). There was a significant correlation between each of the anthropometric measurements and the PSG parameters. In the receiver operating characteristic analysis, cutoff values that predicted severe OSAS were ABSI>0.08, BAI>28.29, AVI>25.54, and CI>1.37. Multiple regression analyses demonstrated that age, sex, and AVI were independent predictors that determine OSAS presence. CONCLUSION: Anthropometric parameters that are indicators of abdominal obesity were found to be robustly correlated with cardiometabolic diseases and the severity of OSAS.

PURPOSE: The present study aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of fractal analysis on determining the osseointegration of dental implants. MATERIAL AND METHODS: In a single center, retrospective clinical trial, patients with dental implants in the mandibular premolar/molar region, ASA I-II and < 65-year-old patients were included. Orthopantomograph (OPG) were taken before implant surgery (t0), within a week of surgery (t1), and 1 (t2) and 2 (t3) months after surgery, respectively. Three regions of interest (ROIs) from mesial, distal, and apical sites of the implants were chosen and fractal analysis (FA) was conducted with the box-counting algorithm using White and Rudolph's method. RESULTS: A total of 39 patients 19 women and 20 men, with a mean age of 52.2 years (52.3 and 52.1 years, respectively) were included. The mean, minimum and maximum values of mesial (roi1), distal (roi2), and apical (roi3) surfaces were compared. The fractal dimension (FD) values of t1 were significantly lower compared with t0 as they decreased during the first week. FD values gradually increased after the first week although never exceeded the FD values of t0. Also, difference between mean FD values of t0 and t3 were found statistically significant (p < 0.05). DISCUSSION: FA is a promising and noninvasive method to predict osseointegration of a dental implant based on dental radiographs, and it can help shorten the total treatment time.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of periodontal treatment on the inflammatory markers in gingival crevicular fluid and the concentration of salivary cortisol between non-pregnant and pregnant women with gingivitis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study included 30 non-pregnant women (mean age 27.93 ± 6.61 years) and 30 pregnant women (mean age 28.93 ± 4.04 years). Each participant presented with the clinical symptoms of generalized, moderate-to-severe gingivitis. Saliva samples were collected by using the spitting method, and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) samples were collected by using the intrasulcular method at baseline and after 3 weeks. Non-surgical periodontal treatment (NPT) comprising scaling and oral hygiene instruction was administered after sample collection. The interleukin-6 and interleukin-10 levels in GCF and salivary cortisol concentrations were determined with using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS: The pregnant women exhibited significantly deeper pockets (p < 0.05) and greater gingival inflammation (p < 0.05) than the non-pregnant women after periodontal therapy. Moreover, the levels of interleukin-6 in the GCF were significantly higher in the pregnant women compared to the non-pregnant women after periodontal therapy: 17.73 ± 9.82 pg per site and 8.08 ± 4.51 pg per site, respectively, p < 0.05. No differences in the levels of interleukin-10 were observed. The pregnant women also exhibited higher cortisol concentration in the saliva after periodontal therapy, compared to the non-pregnant women, while the levels of stress (as seen on the perceived stress scale-10) were similar in both groups. CONCLUSIONS: Although non-surgical periodontal therapy may reduce the clinical parameters of gingivitis, increasing levels of stress in pregnancy may reduce the individual's response to it. However, further studies are necessary to substantiate these early findings. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Psychosocial stress may increase the risk of periodontal disease by altering the behavioral and immune responses of the individual. Therefore, the levels of stress should be taken into consideration in order to increase the efficacy of periodontal therapy in pregnant patients.

OBJECTIVES: This study aims to compare the effectiveness of dry needling (DN) and kinesiotaping (KT) therapies on pain, quality of life, depression, and physical function in the treatment of myofascial pain syndrome (MPS). PATIENTS AND METHODS: The study included a total of 60 patients (4 males, 56 females; mean age 31.2±9.8 years; range, 18 to 56 years) diagnosed with MPS between January 2014 and June 2014. The patients were randomly divided into two treatment groups: the DN group (n=30) and KT group (n=30). Both groups performed stretching and postural exercises. The scales used for measurements were the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain, a pressure algometer for the pressure-pain threshold, the Short Form-36 (SF-36) for the quality of life, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) for depression, and the Neck Pain and Disability Scale (NPDS) for physical function. The patients were evaluated by a single assessor three times: pre-treatment, at the end of the treatment, and two months after the treatment. RESULTS: Both DN and KT provided significant improvements for all baseline measurements (VAS, pressure pain threshold, all subscales of SF-36, BDI, and NPDS scores) at the end of the treatment and two months after the treatment (p<0.05). However, there was no significant difference between the groups in all measurements (p>0.05). CONCLUSION: Kinesiotaping is as an effective method as DN in the treatment of MPS. It can be served as a non-invasive alternative to patients with needle phobia.
